Masterminded by Becki Short and Tanya Marie in 2011, The Mad Hatters Charity Tea Party is an organisation which raises money for different charities through unique events, combining the artistic skills of the two organisers, as well as other people.
The first Mad Hatters Charity Tea Party was held on the 20th August 2011 in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Kids of Portsmouth. The first four events raised money for Cystic Fibrosis Kids, and in 2016 the decision was made to choose a different charity each year. In 2016 we raised money for Blind Veterans UK.
A private vocal tutor, theatre director and vintage performer, Becki is in charge of the front of house and promotion for Mad Hatters. Entertainment, decor, poster designs, social media, website and driving are her main responsibilities.
A food and textiles teacher, costume collaborator and workshop leader, Tanya is in charge of behind the scenes for Mad Hatters. Food, costumes, supporter sourcing, linguistics and logistics are her main responsibilities.
We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the help of the amazing people who support our events, by helping out in whatever way they can – either before, at, or after the event.
Join the team!
We’re always on the look out for volunteers to help out either before or at our events. Each event is totally unique, and so if you’re looking for a volunteer opportunity for yourself, or your child, please get in touch.
